College of St Thomas (Colégio de São Tomás)

Originally dating from the 16th century, it has been rebuilt several times, principally in the late 19th century, when the former college was adapted as a residence for the Counts of Ameal, and during the 20th century, when it became the Law Courts.
The 2-storeyed cloisters, begun in 1555 and attributed to Diogo de Castilho, still survive. Notable in the present building are the huge pictorial tile panels by Jorge Colaço which cover the walls of the atrium & the cloisters.
