Bissaya Barreto House Museum (Casa-Museu Bissaya Barreto)

The Bissaya Barreto House Museum contains a collection of Portuguese tiles, porcelain from the Companhia das Índias and contemporary Portuguese painting – the main items collected by the surgeon and professor Bissaya Barreto over 50 years.

Inaugurated in 1986, the Museum – for almost thirty years the residence of Bissaya Barreto – is housed in a neo-baroque revivalist building designed by the architect Fiel Viterbo.
